lodge is located 206 km south of the Equator on the eastern boundary
of the Masai Mara Game Reserve in south-western Kenya, 2km from
the Oloolaimutia Gate. The Reserve, the best known game area in
East Africa, is 1,120 sq. kms of prime wildlife-viewing territory

all of which are 'rondavel' style and have en-suite bathroom facilities
which provide shaving sockets and hairdryers. Every room and suite
has a private, elevated verandah with splendid views across the

Lake
Nakuru Lodge offers the sort of relaxation you have never experienced
before and the surroundings are a sight too good to miss. Situated
in the south east ecological niche of the Lake Nakuru National Park
is the Lake Nakuru Lodge, an oasis of comfort and excellent service,
with commanding views of the Lesser Flamingo dotted with the Greater
Flamingo, for which Lake Nakuru is justly famous..
There is accommodation for 120 people, either in family rooms, cottages,
or suites. The service is unmatched anywhere in Kenya, a country

The 156 Km Nairobi-Nakuru road gives the visitor an unrivalled view
of the majestic Great Rift Valley, winding through a series of Lakes
and forested uplands all the way to the bustling market town of
Nakuru. The views are equally impressive for the visitor who uses
a charter aircraft for the 25 minute flight to the Lake Nakuru National
Park airstrip situated at the Southern side of the park at the Rhino
Sanctuary Headquarters - Naishi. On the outskirts of Nakuru lies
a truly remarkable National Park which has achieved international
fame as an animal sanctuary. Both Black and White Rhinos are being
given a new lease on life in this 188 square Km, fully electrically
fenced park and they are carefully protected. The present Rhino
population is fifty three and continues to multiply. The Rothschilds
giraffe is another unique animal and the park has it's fair share
of the Buffalo, Leopard, Wild dog, Zebra, Eland, Waterbuck and the
territorial Lion.

Set
on a plateau in the Rift Valley, overlooking one of the world's
greatest ornithological spectacles, Lake Nakuru, stands Sarova Lion
Hill Lodge. The panoramic view from the Lodge reveals a shimmering
pink glow across the Lake, created by millions of flamingos, pelicans
and marabou storks; the landscape blossoms natural foliage and a
startling variety of flower gardens. __Sarova Lion Hill Lodge is
only one hour away from Nairobi. There are 65 rooms to select from
to suit your needs, all which come with an attached bathroom and
have running water and electricity. All bedrooms have verandahs
with panoramic views of the flamingo pink-rimmed lake. The Flamingo
Restaurant serves meals on the ground floor; a patio is available
at the pool. A buffet is served for lunch. Dinner table d'hote with
a seating capacity of 200 people. Rift Valley Bar on the ground
floor overlooks the lake, and is open early till late. For conferences,
the Baraza Room on the ground floor is perfect; it is a large airy
room designed in earth colors and adjacent to a separate lounge.

Ark
Set
in the heart of the Aberdare National Park, this unique game lodge
overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick which attracts a host
of wildlife - elephant, rhino, leopard, bushbuck and occasionally
an elusive bongo or giant forest hog. Resembling and named after
Noah's Ark, The Ark comprises three decks from which numerous balconies
and lounges provide superb vantage points for game viewing. A ground
level bunker provides excellent photographic opportunities and takes
you closer than you would believe possible to the animals. The Ark
is reached via the Aberdare Country Club and is a forty minute drive.
It is 16 km from Mweiga airfield, a one hour drive from Nyeri airstrip
and a two hour drive from Nanyuki airstrip.Bedrooms: The Ark has
60 comfortable en-suite cabins fitted with buzzers to announce the
arrival of one of the "Big Five" at the waterhole. The
cabins comprise 6 single, 37 twin, 10 double and 7 triple-bedded
cabins. All cabins have private bathrooms with shower; all are comfortably
furnished and enjoy a view of the forest waterhole.Restaurants and
Bars: Dinner and breakfast are served "On Board" in the
main dining room. A gourmet Table d'Hote menu is on offer, and the
food is all grown locally. The Ark and Aberdare Country Club are
renown for the fresh vegetables, succulent meats and delicious puddings
and desserts served at mealtimes. Located on one of the viewing
decks is a lounge and a bar which remains open all night for tea,

viewing areas from which to observe the ever present wildlife. There
is a ground level hide where you'll literally come face to face
with animals. You can, on a full-day game drive, visit the Aberdare
National Park. Travelling through the Salient, you gradually climb
in your vehicle to the National Park gate at a height of about 8000
feet. As you ascend, you see the vegetation change to tall cedars,
Podo trees, thick Bamboo forest and varieties of Alpine trees. Wild
mountain flowers bloom in a riot of colour. Profuse bird-life (including
such species as the scarlet tufted malachite sunbird) reside here.
Despite the dense vegetation, you may have glimpses of elephant,
buffalo, zebra, colobus monkey and waterbuck.

hour drive from Nairobi. Alternatively, it is a fifty minute flight

AND LOCATION Located on a ridge that commands magnificent sweeping
views of the Chyulu Hills at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, this
lodge was the first ever to be built in a national park and has
long been a favourite of international tourists. Kilaguni Lodge
was opened in 1962 and has been under Serena management since December
1999. GETTING THERE Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge is mid-way between
Nairobi and Mombasa on the Trans-African highway and about a 3 1/2

Situated on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River, in the center of
the Samburu National Reserve in Kenya's rugged, semi-arid Northern
Province, Samburu Serena Lodge echoes the robust rhythms of African
riverfront life. Mount Kenya itself looms on the horizon. The landscape
is home to a variety of rare game, and is also inhabited by hundreds
of different bird species. Inspired by the architecture of the indigenous
Samburu tribe, the lodge blends into its natural environment by
making full use of native materials. Thatched cabins built using
